i sat at KFC munching a veg zinger and learning a few HR lessons

I was real hungry....was looking for a nice veg pizza...we thought we would get it at the place we had stopped over  at... but oops the place did not have it...KFC was the only option...but who goes to kfc to eat veg? i felt it was a bad decision and also a costly one....but sushant dragged me in...the only option on the menu display was the veg zinger meal...i walked up to the counter and started telling him the order... he flashed a big smile and told me that i had to "Point the Order" and that he could not hear  or speak...i did not know how to react...i felt too awkward at the situation...embarrased at not having noticed his badge..i burried my face in the menu and placed my finger on the only option available on the menu...sushant had a call to take so he got all busy...but i could not stop looking at the guy and the way he went about doing his job...

now that i was jolted out of my absent mindedness i scanned the whole place...there were quite a few men in the serving and cleaning team wearing the same batch...i started observing them...were they any different from we the normal guys with the biggest of gift, "a sound body"...Yes they were...they seemed more happier...alll of them seemed to be the expressives of the highest order...in sign language they kept talking to each other and all that conversation seemed casual banter than the ususal office talk...they were discussing something interesting...2 guys in the cleaning team and 2 behind the counter...some thing interesting was on...they kept discussing the topic passionately...i wished i could understand...they were having all the fun...i looked at the other clients placing the order...all of them seemed to be doing the same mistake i had done... the guy at the counter would flash his "I forgive you" smile and ask the client to point to the order. and when the client was  coming to terms with that sutuation, the guy would look at his friends in the cleaning team and contribute to the interesting conversation...

i realised 2 things that evening
- work can be fun if u have a friend at work
- innovate in hiring to retain and differentiate

roomies night out

Ocassion: Abhinav going onsite...all of us decided to party for one last time...breezers and antiquity and vodka with the good old pizzas

Highlight of the party:  I was all drunk and tried opening the soda bottle. the pressure inside the bottle caused it to fizz out of the bottle and spill alll over my clothes... and this was my reaction " I didn't do any thing...i was just opening it...i didn't do anything" and the reaction looked so odd that people could not stop laughing...i almost had tears in my eyes as if i had done some huge damage...every 1 laughed to make the moment lighter...
later on Mansi asked me y did u react like that...is there any thing in the past that makes me so defensive...Pushya told "this gal who handles all the hot shot guys in company reacts like a child saying "I did not do anything"" I wonder what made me react that ways. Is there a guilt that I hold within? A fear that I will be blamed for the wrong? A fear that I always go wrong? Or the longing to make it known to the world that the mistake was never mine?

i have to find the answer...

Raditux unvieled

yesterday i had the opportunity to visit the biologics plant at dr. reddys...that's where we make the cancer medicine raditux...my guide was a chemical engineer from HBTI who had done his Masters in Chemical Engineering from some hot shot college from Mumbai...he had every intention of converting me to his faith in the 1 hour trip....with detailed explanation he took me through the whole process...and like a perfect teacher he kept asking me questions from time to time to make sure that i wasn't just nodding...he was delighted to find out that i was an engineer too but soon discovered that except for the two terms cation and anion, i was hearing most of the stuff for the first time...he was finding it tough to come down to my level to explain things but i must agree that he did try...the whole process starts with this small microbe that is found in the ovary of a Chinese hamster.. a Chinese mice must i say...he kept referring to them as some "** chow" eggs. these damn eggs are to be maintained as some really cool temperature...i guess some where close to -230 degree Celsius...these microbe are taken out using the "culture" process...the sample from the culture is fed into the "mounting" process...where these microbes are kept into fermenters and allowed to grow... they are exposed to the right kinda temperature and climatic conditions to produce the desired protein...the process takes 40 days and produces 200 L of solution...once ready...the stage is the de-mounting process...where the cleaning up of this solution happens... the scientists clean up the protiens to remove the waste content and other impurities...the bring it down to 20 L...where each litre has a certain density of protein present in it...the vial is now ready for forming and filling...the next stage is where this vial gets filled into the bottles and the kind of measures taken to maintain the cleanliness of these rooms is commendable....the rooms get classified as class A, B, C and D...depending on how many times the whole air in the room gets replenished...the storage was also commendable...the raditux is to be maintained at -2 to -8 degree Celsius at all times...so the store it in these cool stores where 5- 6 men can work along...while filling in trucks...they store it in these small bottles that has some spl. water frozen in it.

do u wanna guess, how much a dosage of raditux costs? 10 ml. for INR 39,999...which is a little cheaper than what the innovator medicines are available for....

Raditux continues to give hope for life to many a cancer patients...as our CEO Prasad says..."never forget that medicines are made not for profits but for the patients...and when u keep that in mind...profits never fail to come...

did i do justice to the effort the guy put in explaining me the whole stuff......nay...my grey cells are dying :-(...i am forgetting all the stuff all the time :-( is there a biologically generated protein for that?

i wanna get a hair cut..

a rather silly topic to write on. But it's odd to realise that I have never got a real hair cut barring the occasional hair trims....
i just hate to experiment with self...the inertia against change is so strong that i psych myself to imaging the worst...for example in this case my fears tell me that my hair will start falling if i get the hair cut...plus i wont look nice in the new style...plus the quality of my hair will deteorate and what not...sushant has always wanted to see me in a smarter hair cut...but my fears never let me make my sweetie happy...fuck the hair...fuck the hair fall...lets just chop them.......but sushant is gone for an year...he any ways wont see...should i wait for another year? but i am only getting older.........oh gosh....confusions again,...i hate being a libran at times...well well well...i forgot 2 write where the whole idea of the hair cut emerged from...i went to the parlor today and saw a woman getting a cut... that's when my desires to get one arose...

lets do it baby...lets chop them...

ah it feels great to arrive at a decision after all...or shall i say after 27 long years of my life...
 :-)

good night

Dilemma

being a libra, i have always been indecisive when it comes to my own self...i am able to see things in black and white when i see other people in various situation. why is it that I am unable to zoom out and stand from a distance and decide about my own dilemmas.

Pros of sticking on:

- history with this group, the past instances of success, his clear faith in my abilities, total ownership of everything i do, the mullah, future growth in power and designation, learning is humongous under my new found guru

Cons of sticking on:

- zero work life balance, health suffering,  i can never take care of my kids with this kinda schedules, no clarity on performance parameters- today u r respected coz of no pertinent clearly defined goals and tomorrow u may be thrown out because of zero fault of urs...

Smile, smile and smile some more

I operate in the mid of chaos....I know each one of my fellow mates hate their jobs...I know all of them are on the way out....I have argued it out with the big bosses but they don't seem to listen...they are too psychic to understand...there is no hope....but i cannot afford to look gloomy and spread the despair..the least I can do is smile...if to no one else, it makes me feel better...it heals me....i smile and try to connect to the other person trying to tell him that I am there for him...i look into his soul and leave in him for the blur of a moment a fading impression of the cheerfulness of a sun...the brightness of a rose the message that "no matter what it means, i am aware of his troubles and I empathise with him"... He returns the smile and walks away leaving in me a hope that he does not hold me responsible for the chaos around him...a hope that he knows that I tried enough to move the rock but failed...his smile gives me the strength to try yet again...his smile pleads to me that i cannot give up...

I begin to write

Writing is a form of meditation...i have always been in awe of people who write marvellously... i have always thought that my right brain is too inactive for me to be able to write something that makes sense ...forget writing something that others enjoy to read...but then i do not meditate to please others... then y should i compare my scribblings with other's master pieces of writings.... i will write so that my half dead right brain does not enter the state of coma...so that i again start to feel the excitement that I used to feel when our English teacher at my class would pronounce a new word and teach us it's usage in a sentence.....i remember Mrs. Pavan's "cavalier" or Mrs Ratnateja's "causal"...i hadnt heard them till class 8...i had so much loved to underline them in my book... i continue to treasure them till date...i continue to recall the piosness of those classes...let me be my teacher for once...let me learn myself again..."into a glory of knowlege my lord...let my right brain awake"
